Tires are getting more expensive across the world.
Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. (GTR) and Cooper Tire & Rubber Co., (CTB) the two largest U.S. tiremakers, plan to raise prices by as much as 6.5% starting October, according to Bloomberg News. In Europe, Bridgestone (BRDCY) is upping its prices by about 6%.

Pacific Gas and Electric (PCG) released a list of 100 high priority gas lines in California, 11 days after a gas main exploded in San Bruno, killing at least four people.
PG&E compiled the list using criteria including potential for corrosion and the potential for third-party damage such as construction, the company said on its website.

AutoZone Inc (AZO) reported diluted earnings per share of $5.66 for the quarter ended Aug. 28, a 27.7% increase from a year earlier.
Net sales rose 9.5% from a year earlier to $2.4 billion in the fourth quarter of fiscal 2010, the auto parts company said in a statement. AutoZone opened 80 new stores in the U.S. in the quarter, and 26 new stores in Mexico.

BP (BP) will join an oil spill response group formed by fellow oil giants Exxon Mobil (XOM), ConocoPhillips (COP), Chevron (CVX) and Royal Dutch Shell (RDS.A).
BP will make its underwater well containment equipment and personnel available to the group, called the Marine Well Containment Co., The Washington Post said.
