Perfume maker Coty Inc agreed to buy Philosophy Inc., a maker of personal care products, for about $1 billion.

Avon Rises in German Trading on Reports of L’Oreal Bid

Avon Products Inc. (AVP) gained in trading on the Germany stock market after British newspaper The Daily Mail said L’Oreal SA (LRLCY) may bid for the company.

Avon’s German-traded shares advanced 6.2% from the Oct. 11 closing price in New York to $35.22 at 12:59pm in Frankfurt, Bloomberg News said.

Unilever to Buy Alberto Culver for $3.7 Billion

Unilever (UL) announced early Monday that it had agreed to buy beauty care company Alberto Culver Company for $3.7 billion in cash.

The deal will make Unilever the world’s leading company in hair conditioning, the second largest in shampoo and the third largest in hair styling, Unilever said in a statement.
