Spurred largely by a 1999 report that cited gender discrimination among reasons why women accounted for less than 10% of MIT’s science and engineering faculty, the school made a concerted effort to address the stereotypes and misconceptions that limited women’s advancement through MIT’s academia. Airbus will overhaul its A320 jet to offer 15% more fuel efficiency.
Airbus will spend more than 1 billion euros ($1.3 billion) on the “A320neo” project, which will improve efficiency and reduce emissions, Reuters said.
The new plane will have upward-slanting wingtips and use engines from either Pratt& Whitney or CFM International. The company says it could sell as many as 4,000 of the planes…

Siemens Raises Dividend on Growth Outlook

Siemens AG (SI) upped its dividend for the first time in four years as it aims for strong growth in emerging markets.
The German engineering company is proposing to pay out 2.7 euros per share, after three years of holding dividends at 1.6 euros per share, Bloomberg News said.
Siemens said Thursday that fiscal fourth-quarter sales gained 7.7% to 21.23 billion euros ($29.27 billion).
